The Contribution of Social Media to Participation
The Contribution of Social Media to Participation
The integration of social media in to the system of contemporary capitalism, which spreads from the practice of “fordism on steroids” to the governmental systems, incorporates the decentralized, cooperative action in to a chain of production, which makes profit for business angels, corporations and data brokers, but not those, who are raising the value of those platforms due to voluntary job. Because of its inherent nature, the participation through the social media can’t be compared to the political participation. While in representative democracies voting age and the sufficient citizenship can guarantee participation, in the case of social media participation can be realized alongside interactivity and the market.
