The Memory of the Senses

Laura U. Marks’s film theoretical book systematizes, analyses films and videos made by authors in diasporas. But its approach is rather innovative and reveals crucial theoretical problems: it gives an overview about the features of a medium that is used for recalling memories of those who live far from their home land. Albeit these theoretical questions seemingly might be interested for a small group of scholars, reading Marks’s assumptions we might admit, they also broaden our understanding about intercultural communication and its representation.
