Intellectual History, History of Ideas on the Turn of the Millenium

After the transition from communism to democratism, there was a never seen before prosperity in intellectual history (Geistesgeschichte) in Hungary. This paper focuses on the years after this blooming period, precisely on the beginning of this new period. It thus aims to give a diagnosis of and via the history of ideas regarding the first decade of the new millennium. Three big synthesizing projects are taken into account: the summarizing Philosophy, edited by Gábor Boros, the series called Histories of Hungarian Literature (edited by Mihály Szegedy-Maszák) and the series 20 Years after published by Napvilág Press, which focuses on social and political affairs of the transition period after the fall of the communist regime.
