The paper presents a significant part of József Havasréti’s work as a cultural researcher: his research and publications related to popular music in a historical (biographical, institutional and disciplinary historical) framework. The summary considers the significance of Havasréti’s oeuvre in the Hungarian academic context which is presented in a personal tone due to the gesture of greeting.
