Developmental Psychology, Teleology and Socialization
Developmental Psychology, Teleology and Socialization
The starting point of this thematic block is the study of Péter Bodor which examines the connections of developmental psychology and the teleological concept of development. In this paper, Bodor concludes that the idea of development has gradually disappeared from developmental psychology. All other papers reply to this central question. Péter Somlai details the factors that could make the idea of development disappear from developmental psychology. Reconstruing the concepts of evolution and development and their changes since the 19th century, Eszter Pál places the question into a wider context. Bernadette Péley is elaborating on the dilemma whether developmental psychology is a unified discipline or merely a sum of heterogeneous perspectives. Zsuzsanna Vajda points out that rejecting the thought of development in developmental psychology is not an entirely new phenomenon but one anteceded with similar tendencies.
