The relationship between intergenerational mobility and life circumstances: doubts in light of the parallel approach

The present study aims to reveal the relationship between intergenerational mobility and components of life circumstances. By doing so, it also reevaluates the content of social mobility. Our research finds that the relationship between social mobility and life circumstances differs according to social background: the empirical relationship between the two can be positive, negative and – in some cases – non-detectable. The study also outlines our findings about the different degrees of empirical connection between social mobility and lifestyle components.
