The Nautilus, the Titanic and the 1956 Citroën
This writing raises the question whether classic mythological or modern mythical constructions should be treated as historic facts, or they can be interesting only from the aspect of the history of ideas. If we want to accept these constructions as historic facts, than we have to change our idea about history and about understanding history. According to Schelling, Cassirer and others the myth is more like a form of intellect. Unlike popular contemporary opinions the myth is not the antonym of reality, but an organizing element of that. Myth has the features of a paradigm, since it serves for the whole community as an example, orientation point and as a norm to be followed or rejected. Archaic and modern myths are similar in terms of function of the mythological thinking and of stylistic patterns.
