Autopoiesis and Buddhism
Autopoiesis and Buddhism
György Kampis in converstion with András Karácsony
Á propos the socio-biological foundation of social theories in the mid-80s, this discussion between György Kampis and András Karácsony, beyond Luhmann’s references to natural sciences, puts under scrutiny the opportunities to find links between the system theory of social and that of natural sciences, and also embraces the particularities of the different approaches of national sciences. Related to this comes up Maturana’s and Varela’s theory on the influence of physics and biology on sociological research. On the other hand, the examination of the primal focus of the discussion, that it autopoiesis brings us closer to the main concept of Luhmann’s social theory. The polemic highly concerns also the possibility of the ontological recognition of the propositions of such self-referential systems as Buddhism.
